# Can I use an Instagram widget without an Instagram account?

> No. An Instagram widget needs a creator or business Instagram account that signs in. Get a free account, or ask the account owner to sign in.

No. SnapWidget can only show Instagram posts after the owner of a creator or business account signs in with that account.

* **You do not have an account yet**: [get a free Instagram account](#get-an-instagram-account), then switch it to a creator account.
* **The account belongs to someone else**, for example a client: use [Send For Auth](/docs/instagram/send-for-auth). You send them a link, and they sign in with their own account. This needs a paid plan.

To make a widget for someone else, you do not need your own Instagram account. Only the account whose posts you show must sign in.

## Get an Instagram account

Instagram accounts are free. You must be at least 13 years old.

**1. Get the app**

Download the Instagram app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). You can also sign up on [instagram.com](https://www.instagram.com).

**2. Create your account**

Open the app and tap **Create New Account**. Enter your email address or mobile number, then follow the steps to add a password, your birthday, your name and a username. Tap **I agree** to create the account.

**3. Switch to a creator account**

SnapWidget does not work with personal accounts. [Switch your new account to a creator account](/docs/instagram/switch-to-a-creator-account). It is free.

When your creator account is ready, [create your Instagram widget](/docs/getting-started/create-an-instagram-widget).

For more help with the sign-up, see Instagram's guide to [create an Instagram account](https://help.instagram.com/155940534568753).
