# How do I create a review widget?

> Click New Widget, choose a review layout, then select the review sources that the widget shows.

Before you start, add at least one review source. See [Add a G2 source](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/add-a-g2-source.md) or [Add your own reviews](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/add-your-own-reviews.md).

**1. Open your widgets**

[Log in](https://snapwidget.com/login) to SnapWidget. Click **Widgets** in the sidebar.

**2. Click New Widget**

Click **New Widget**. The **Create Widget** window opens at **Step 1 of 2**.

**3. Choose a review layout**

The layouts are in two groups: **Social feeds** and **Reviews**. Under **Reviews**, click a layout. See the layouts below. The window goes to step 2.

On the free plan, the review layouts show a lock. A click shows **Upgrade Required**. Review widgets are on the paid plans.

**4. Select the review sources**

Select the review sources that the widget shows. At first, all your review sources are selected. Clear the sources that you do not want. Then click **Create Widget**.

If you have no review source, click **Add Review Source** to add one.

**5. Set up the widget**

The widget opens in the review widget builder. Change the settings. The preview shows your changes. See [Review widget settings](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/review-widget-settings.md).

**6. Add the widget to your website**

Click **Install Widget** and copy the code. Paste the code into your website. See [Install a review widget](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/install-a-review-widget.md).

## Your first widget

If you have no widgets yet, the Widgets page shows **Choose A Service** instead of **New Widget**. Click **Choose A Service**, then **Reviews**, then a layout. Then click **Create Widget**. The widget shows all your review sources, and you can change them in the builder.

If you have no review source yet, the last step shows **Add Your Reviews**. Add a source on the Sources page, then come back to the Widgets page.

On the free plan, the last step shows **Start Free Trial**. Review widgets are on the paid plans, and each paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

A review widget shows reviews only. It does not show social posts.

## Review layouts

| Layout | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Wall** | All reviews in a grid of 1 to 4 columns. Each card is as tall as its review, so long and short reviews fit together. |
| **Carousel** | One row of reviews. Visitors slide the row to see more reviews. |
| **Marquee** | 1 or 2 rows of reviews that move across the page on their own. With 2 rows, the rows move in opposite directions. |
| **List** | The reviews in one column. |
| **Rating badge** | The average rating and the number of reviews. |
| **Avatars** | The photos of your reviewers, with stars and a short text. A click on a photo opens the review in a pop-up. The pop-up can show a button with your own link. |

You can change the layout later in the widget builder. If you change the layout to or from **Avatars**, copy the widget code again. See [Install a review widget](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/install-a-review-widget.md).

## Review widgets in the widgets list

Your [dashboard](https://snapwidget.com/dashboard) lists your social widgets and your review widgets together. A review widget shows the icon of its layout and the names of its sources. Its **Service** column shows **Reviews**. Its **Installed** column shows **Not tracked**.

To open a review widget, click it. The menu of each widget has **Edit**, **Duplicate** and **Delete**.
