# What are review widgets?

> Review widgets show your reviews and testimonials on any website. Import your G2 reviews, or add your own reviews by hand or from a CSV file.

A review widget shows reviews and testimonials on your website. You put the reviews in a review source. Then you make a widget that shows the reviews of one or more sources, and you paste the widget code into your website.

A review widget shows reviews only. It does not show social posts. To show posts and reviews on the same page, add two widgets.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Review widgets are on the paid plans: Lite, Pro and Developer. Each paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. See [pricing](https://snapwidget.com/pricing). On the free plan:
>
> * In **New Widget**, the review layouts show a lock.
> * In **Add Source**, the review tiles show **Upgrade**.
> * On the **Create Widget** page, the review widget cards show **PRO**.
>
> A click on any of them shows how to upgrade.

## When your paid plan ends

If you go back to the free plan, your review widgets stop within a few minutes. On your website, each one shows **Your review widget subscription needs to be updated** in place of your reviews. G2 does not sync, and you cannot add new review sources or review widgets.

Your sources and widgets stay. [Choose a plan](https://snapwidget.com/upgrade), and the widgets show your reviews again within a few minutes. New G2 reviews from the time without a plan come in with the next sync, or click **Sync Now** on the page of the source.

## Review sources

| Source | Where the reviews come from |
| - | - |
| **G2** | The reviews of your product on G2. SnapWidget imports them and checks for new reviews every 3 days. |
| **Your reviews** | Reviews that you add by hand or import from a CSV file, for example a CSV file from Senja. |

## How it works

**1. Add a review source**

On the [Sources page](https://snapwidget.com/docs/getting-started/sources.md), click **Add Source**. Under **Reviews**, click **G2** or **Your reviews**. See [Add a G2 source](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/add-a-g2-source.md) or [Add your own reviews](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/add-your-own-reviews.md).

**2. Check your reviews**

Open the source to see its reviews. Approve new G2 reviews, hide the reviews that you do not want to show, and highlight the words that you want visitors to see first. See [Approve, hide and edit reviews](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/manage-reviews.md).

**3. Create a review widget**

On your [dashboard](https://snapwidget.com/dashboard), click **New Widget**. Choose a review layout, then choose your review sources. See [Create a review widget](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/create-a-review-widget.md).

**4. Add the widget to your website**

In the widget builder, click **Install Widget** and copy the code. Paste the code into your website. See [Install a review widget](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/install-a-review-widget.md).

## Layouts

| Layout | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Wall** | All reviews in a grid of 1 to 4 columns. Each card is as tall as its review. |
| **Carousel** | One row of reviews that visitors slide. |
| **Marquee** | 1 or 2 rows of reviews that move across the page on their own. |
| **List** | The reviews in one column. |
| **Rating badge** | The average rating and the number of reviews. |
| **Avatars** | The photos of your reviewers, with stars and a short text. A click on a photo opens the review in a pop-up. |
