# Why is my Instagram widget not updating with new photos?

> New Instagram posts take up to 15 minutes to show. If they still do not show, connect your account again or check your widget settings.

Your widget checks for new posts on its own. You do not need to make a new widget or change the code on your website. Free widgets refresh every 15 minutes. Pro Instagram and Facebook widgets refresh every 5 minutes. If a new post takes longer to show, check these points in order.

> **1. Reload your website**
>
> Your browser can show an older copy of your page. Reload the page, or open your website in a private browser window.

> **2. Look for a message in the widget**
>
> * **Your widget needs to be updated**: the widget lost the connection to your account. [Connect it again](/docs/troubleshooting/widget-needs-to-be-updated).
> * **Your widget needs to be upgraded**: your website has a very old widget code. [Replace the code](/docs/troubleshooting/widget-needs-to-be-upgraded).
> * **Your Instagram widget subscription needs to be updated!**: this is a Pro widget, and your paid plan has ended. Start a plan again in [Settings > Subscription](https://snapwidget.com/settings/subscription).

> **3. Look for Requires Re-Auth on your dashboard**
>
> If your [dashboard](https://snapwidget.com/dashboard) shows **Requires Re-Auth** under the widget, the widget uses an old Instagram connection that no longer works. [Connect it again](/docs/troubleshooting/widget-needs-to-be-updated).

> **4. Check the widget settings**
>
> * **Filter**: a widget that filters by hashtag only shows posts with that hashtag.
> * **Randomize** (Pro, **Advanced** tab): the widget shows posts in random order, so your newest post is not always first.
> * **Blocked Users** (Pro, **Advanced** tab): the widget hides posts from the accounts in this list.

> **5. Connect your account again**
>
> The connection to your account can stop working without a message. Open the widget, click **Reconnect** next to **Username**, sign in, and click **Update & Get Widget**. See [Widget needs to be updated](/docs/troubleshooting/widget-needs-to-be-updated).

>
> Pro widgets have an **Auto Refresh** setting on the **Advanced** tab. It reloads the widget for visitors who keep your page open, so they see new posts without a reload.
