# Why does WordPress display a link instead of the widget?

> WordPress.com removes the widget code unless your site has a paid plan with hosting features turned on. Self-hosted WordPress sites can show it.

The SnapWidget code uses an iframe. WordPress.com removes iframes for security, unless your site has a paid plan with hosting features turned on. When WordPress.com removes the code, your page shows a link or nothing where the widget should be.

## On WordPress.com

**1. Use a paid plan**

Your site needs a paid WordPress.com plan. A free plan cannot show iframes.

**2. Turn on hosting features**

A paid plan alone is not enough. To turn on hosting features, install at least one plugin. See [Activate your plan](https://wordpress.com/support/activate-your-plan/) on WordPress.com.

**3. Add the code again**

Add a **Custom HTML** block, paste your SnapWidget code into it, and save the page.

WordPress.com explains which code it removes on its [Custom HTML block](https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/custom-html-block/) page.

## On your own WordPress site

If you host WordPress yourself (the WordPress.org software), paste the code into a **Custom HTML** block. See [Add a widget to WordPress](/docs/install/wordpress).
