# How do I change the layout or the description of a widget?

> Change the layout of a social widget in the Basic tab of the widget builder, and give the widget a description in the header of the builder.

To change a widget, click it on your [dashboard](https://snapwidget.com/dashboard). The widget builder opens.

## Change the layout

**1. Choose a layout**

On the **Basic** tab, under **Layout**, select a layout in **Widget Layout**. The preview shows the widget in the new layout. The settings of the new layout start with the values of a new widget, for example a thumbnail size of 500 px for a slideshow.

**2. Save**

Click **Save** in the **Unsaved changes** bar. The widget on your website changes to the new layout at once. To go back to the old layout before you save, click **Reset**.

**3. Copy the code again**

Click **Install Widget** and copy the code. Replace the old code on your website with the new code. The old code keeps the size of the old layout, and the popup needs its own type of code.

**Widget Layout** shows only the layouts that the widget can use:

* The layouts of your plan. A free widget cannot change to a Pro layout, such as **Feed**.
* The layouts of every account in the widget. For example, a widget with a YouTube channel can be a **Grid** or a **Board** only.
* For a widget that shows a hashtag campaign: **Grid**, **Board**, **Scrolling**, **Slideshow** and **Popup**.

To change a free widget to a Pro widget, see [Free and Pro widgets](https://snapwidget.com/docs/getting-started/free-and-pro-widgets.md).

To change the layout of a review widget, see [Review widget settings](https://snapwidget.com/docs/reviews/review-widget-settings.md).

## Set a description

The header of the widget builder shows the content of the widget, for example **Content posted by @yourname**. Under it is the description of the widget.

**1. Click Add description**

In the header, click **Add description...**, or click the description that the widget has.

**2. Type the description**

Type the description, then press **Enter**. To cancel, press **Esc**.

**3. Save**

Click **Save** in the **Unsaved changes** bar.

Your [dashboard](https://snapwidget.com/dashboard) shows the description under the name of the widget. The code that you copy after that uses it as the title of the widget, which screen readers read.
