Ingrid Graudins - Songs, Words & Music
The world lost Ingrid Graudins last night. Our Ingrid.
Oh, my heart.
Ingrid, my velvety supple partner on “In the Gloaming” on the Live Record.
(Her mother, Ruta told her to “take off their socks” that night at the Park West in Chicago. And she did.)
Ingrid, the heartbreak timbre of the harmonies on “The Choice” and “Paris.”
Ingrid, who stacked “Hey Ya Ya” parts with me in my living room in Boston...

Saturday Brainfog Basement Reconnaissance
I’m finally coming down with whatever has been hitting almost everyone I know…. Pat had it all week. I thought I was dodging… a ….bull….oh well.
It’s not Covid, at least there’s that….
So my brain is cottony fog, my balance is funky, and for some reason I am obsessed with using my useless half self to weed out my basement.
My road Wurlitzer has been on my mind for a while now. Actually, since we...

Happy New Year.
I am chewing on this little ditty. (Still no new word from the TSA.)
I am also chewing on a lovely thought from my yoga teacher this morning. That no matter our resolutions, our successes, our "failures" we are all absolutely worthy of being loved. I know, it's mushy and woo woo.
But it reminded me of one of the things I treasure about Pat. He's always said that if I were never, ever to write another...

Thank you, Jim Olson.
What a day. I drove up to Circle Pines, MN and finally met Jim Olson and his wife Sue. We had lunch at the local diner, and then I got a tour of the shop. Oh my, oh my, oh my!!
It’s an incredible, unassuming, ergonomic and perfect space. He’s tooled all of the machines to do exactly what he needs them to do.
My favorite was the 1982 "sander" that he cobbled together from a...

It’s been quite a rollercoaster Holiday.
A gut punch kind of Christmas. So much good, and then quite a few setbacks!
It started with that last minute root canal on Friday. Continued on with a flat tire on Saturday, and no where to get it fixed until Tuesday. No cars to rent, so we mostly stayed home.
There were lovely family Christmas shenanigans as it rained and rained and rained… and then another slap back to reality.
Yesterday, the Transportation...

Thank you all so much for yesterday.
I realized, and many of you voiced this in the beautiful comments, that we are still in recovery mode from Covid - This VERY BAD THING that happened to the world. Of course, there are many other bad subsequent things still upon us, in fact, the bad things are just not letting up. And maybe the relentless assault hasn’t allowed us the collective time, space, peace to process what we went through.
Facing...

As you may or may not know, I’m somewhat allergic to Christmas Music. So Kevin Gilbert and I made this Dirge one year to try to at least keep up with the Joneses… Despite regretting the helicopter being so loud throughout, I still love the arrangement. And I loved working with Kevin. I offer you “O come, O come, Emmanuel,” helicopter and all. xo jb
