Your code can make and change widgets, connect accounts, add reviews and get the code for your site. AI agents get the same actions through the MCP server. The API is on the Developer plan.

Get a token

1

Open the API page

Log in to SnapWidget and open the API page.
2

Create the token

Under Create a token, enter a token name, for example the name of your website, and click Create Token.
3

Copy the token

Copy the token at once. You do not see it again.
The token works like a password, so keep it out of shared files and chats. An account with no password needs one first: on the Account page, click Email Me A Link.

Make a call

Send the token in the Authorization header. Every address starts with https://snapwidget.com/api/v1.
The answer is JSON. To send data, send JSON with the header Content-Type: application/json.

Errors

An error answer has a message that says what went wrong:
  • 401: the token is missing, wrong, expired or revoked.
  • 403: the token has no API access, or your plan does not allow the change. A plan error also has upgrade_url.
  • 404: the widget, account or other item is not in your account.
  • 422: an input is not valid. errors gives the message for each input.
  • 429: too many calls. The Retry-After header gives the seconds to wait.

Limits

You can make up to 600 calls a minute. Some calls have lower limits, for example the Google business search and the review sync.

Sign-up for AI agents

An agent can make a new account with no browser: see Sign up with no browser. That token works with the MCP server. For the API, create a token on the API page.

OpenAPI file

The API is also in an OpenAPI file: https://snapwidget.com/api/v1/openapi.json. Import it into your API tool, or make a client for your code from it.
