Mastodon is a decentralized social network that is quickly gaining popularity. One of the best ways to increase your visibility and credibility on the platform is by getting your profile link verified. Verification is a simple process that requires you to prove ownership of the website or social media account linked to your Mastodon profile. In this guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of getting your link verified on Mastodon.
Before you begin the verification process, it is important to make sure that your profile is complete. This means that you should have a bio, profile picture, and header image. Additionally, it is a good idea to have at least one post on your profile to show that it is active.
Scroll down in the Edit Profile section of your Mastodon profile. You will see a Verification section where you can Copy your verification link. Copy this link so we can use it in the next step.
If you are the owner of the website link you would like to verify on Mastodon, simply add a link using the verification link copied in Step 2 to your site to proof ownership. If you are not the owner or developer, you will need to send this link to your developer to add.
Another option is using Snapto to add your Mastodon profile to your Snapto profiles social media links. You can then set your Snapto profile link on Mastodon and it will be verified. More information on this is available here.
After adding your verification link to your website (or if you followed the Snapto process, your Snapto profile). You will need to add this link to your Mastodon profile in the Profile Metadata section.
After adding your website link, click Save Changes.
Your Mastodon profile should now have a verified link to your website. This could sometimes take a couple of hours depending on the Mastodon server you are using, but in most cases it should be instant.
