「まけきらい稲荷」の名で親しまれる王地山平左衛門稲荷社。

王地山公園の西側、約50基の赤い鳥居がトンネルのように続く長い石段があり、丘上の土俵の上に稲荷神社がお祀りされています。

「まけきらい」の名前の由来は、江戸時代に遡ります。負けきらいのお殿様が、連戦連勝した力士に褒美をやろうとしたところ全員が領内のお稲荷さんの名前でした。そのため、それぞれに幟や絵馬などを奉納して感謝したという逸話が元だそうです。
