街の中の岡本太郎
「足あと広場」
広島県福山市にある「あしあとスクェアー」の前身「はきもの博物館」(1978年開館)竣工に際して作られました。
岡本は、「足」という身体部位を「大地と人間のいのちがぶつかりあう接点」と位置づけ、男女の足を擬人化した自身の油彩画《記念撮影》をデザインのもととして制作しました。
巨人の足あとを形作った作品は、それ自体が地面から掘り下げられた庭です。こ足あとのくぼみに身を置くことで目の高さが地面と同じになり、足の視点で世界を見ることができるという岡本らしい仕掛けでもあります
