9月9日、10日と【塩原温泉まつり】が開催されます。国道400号線は時間帯によって、混雑や迂回通行があります。温泉まつりの起源は古く、大正４年（１９１５年）１１月１０日の大正天皇御即位式を祝ったのが始まりです。塩原には明治時代より福渡に【塩原御用邸】が置かれ、皇室とはゆかりの深い地で、現在も御用邸の建物が、【天皇の間記念公園】として、福渡温泉に移築されています。
