一時興起和旅伴走進了一家小雜貨店，原因是因為老闆看起來像是華僑，而我一直很想和印尼華僑聊聊天，聊聊我們這樣的「東南亞華人」。

兩夫妻共同經營了這家店十八年，小小的雜貨店養活了一家老小，兩個孩子紛紛已經成家立業。阿姨跟我說他們原籍福建，但早已和中國的親戚斷了聯繫，而我們呢？多數的馬來西亞華人還保留著很強烈的「同根」思想，回中國探親還是我們上兩代人非做不可的事。可到我們這一代呢？大概還能說中文已經是很神奇的事了吧。
