確かなロクロの技による成形と釉薬の美とを融合させた、モダンな作品づくりで知られる百田暁生さん。本来、素焼きした生地の表面全体にかける釉薬を絵具のように扱い、釉薬で模様をつける表現に挑んでいます。これは淡い青白磁釉と瑠璃釉を使い、空中で絵を描くように投げ塗りをした「—彩—」シリーズのぐい呑み。まるで抽象絵画を見るような作品です。
