המדליה עוצבה לרגל חגיגות ה-40 להענקת הפרס היוקרתי, ע"ש ריקארדו וולף, שבו זוכים מדי שנה מדענים ואמנים חשובים מרחבי העולם על תרומתם לקידום האנושות.
