フルハンターとは、懐中時計を保護するために金属等の上蓋が付いているもので、ちょうど二枚貝の中に懐中時計を収めたような外観の防護性の高いものです。
上流階級のスポーツである狩猟において落馬などにより懐中時計を壊しやすかったため、風防を保護する蓋を取り付けたことからこの名が付いています。
