位於菊池川流域的山鹿，是盛產稻米的地域，在不過五分鐘路程的古街道裡就能遇見幾間與稻米有著密切關係的商舖（釀製日本酒的千代之園、可以體驗米仙貝製作的仙貝工房），除此之外，保存完整的老街形象與觀光客不多而造就的寧靜也是格外迷人。
