北門驛為日式造型木造車站，建築面積95.15平方公尺，主要分為票房、候車室與辦公室。目前規畫為鐵路文物展示館，驛前廣場與周邊設置「呼喚的地標」、「時空走廊」、「生態藝術牆」等公共藝術，藉以凝聚鐵道文化的集體意識，同時嘉義市政府已列為市定古蹟。
