本日訪れたのは、カリフォルニアにおけるピノ・ノワールの名産地の一つ、「カーネロス」地区です。この産地はナパとソノマの南部にまたがって位置し、湾から近い影響でナパでも最も涼しい地域と言われています。
訪問したのはもちろん「マホニー ・ヴィンヤーズ」。 何と、もはやカリフォルニアワイン史に残る一人とも言える、オーナーのフランシス・マホニーさんとお会いすることができました！マホニーさんはこの地区の立役者的な方なのです。
今でも彼のぶどうを多くの有名ワイナリーが指名買いをしてワインを造ります。
