新海誠的作品總是有一份淡淡的哀傷，在《你的名字》後的《天氣之子》帶來細緻的畫功，以及動人的配樂，讓走出戲院時感到滿足，是慰藉心情之選。
故事講一位青年帆高離開老家，隻身去到東京遇上了擁有令天空放晴能力的陽菜。故事除了描寫二人之間的感情和陽菜作為晴女的遭遇之外，當中加入奇幻和神話傳說的元素，符合了一貫新海誠的風格。比起過往新海誠的作品，這部《天氣之子》 在角色的描寫之中更加細緻，就著對天氣改變的看法，帶出社會的冷漠和現實。
