12世紀、南仏のカルトジオ会の修道士達が、イベリア半島で最初に建設したのが、プリオラートの聖なる山モンサンの麓に位置する、”エスカラデイ修道院”です。

修道士たちによって、ワイン造りが興されたので、プリオラートワインのはじまりの場所とも言われています。

スペイン内戦時、ちょうどタラゴナで修復中だったこちらのサンタマリア像は、奇跡的に戦火を免れたそうです。
